APPLETREE COVID-19 Supplemental Project Presentations—Part 2

In early 2021, ASTHO, with support from CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, provided funding and assistance to five state health agencies (or their partners) to support environmental health-related COVID-19 response activities. Examples of activities performed under these awards include performing COVID-19 consultations during standard on-site restaurant inspections and informing schools and early care and education programs about effective, safe COVID-19 mitigation protocols. This webinar features presentations from project staff at the Virginia Department of Health and Indiana Department of Health. Tackling Inequities in Digital Care

The Tackling Inequities in Digital Care webinar discusses state and community-level interventions to bridge the digital divide in healthcare and improve access to digital services for marginalized communities. Making Sense of COVID-19 Vaccine Polling Results

In this first installment of ASTHO’s Ask the Experts crisis communication series, Gillian SteelFisher shared a meta-analysis of the many COVID-19 vaccine-related public polls and how public health can use this information to guide vaccine messaging. Additionally, Neetu Abad, co-lead of the CDC Vaccine Confidence team, discussed behavioral drivers of hesitancy and how CDC uses that knowledge to craft outreach materials. Tobacco Prevention in the Lens of COVID-19: Opportunities and Strategies

Expanded PFAS Exposure Assessments in Pennsylvania Communities

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of synthetic compounds found in a variety of household and industrial products. The two most studied compounds in this family, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), have been associated with a range of health concerns. The following webinar recording describes follow-up work by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PADOH) to further characterize PFAS exposures in affected Pennsylvania communities.
